On behalf of the Scientific Advisory Board, it is a pleasure to invite you to the INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SYSTEMS BIOLOGY 2005 in Milan.

Systems Biology is one of the most prominent newly emerging interdisciplinary scientific areas.

By connecting fields such as genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, mathematics and computer sciences, it enables discovery of yet unknown organizing principles underlying the function of living cells and generates testable and predictive models of complex cellular pathways and eventually of whole cells. It is expected that Systems Biology will help to rationalize scientific research and foster industry innovations, expecially in drug discovery.

The INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SYSTEMS BIOLOGY 2005 will cover essential state-of-the-art aspects of SysBio from mere experimental strategies to modeling of living systems.

Many leading experts have accepted to participate as lecturers and we are confident that the INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SYSTEMS BIOLOGY 2005 will be an outstanding event with a stimulating scientific program.

It will be open to European graduate student and young scientists interested in Systems Biology, and it will be provide a basis for a network of young SysBio community: the experts of the future.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Milan,

Lilia Alberghina
